Jim McVeigh

A Director of G2G Education Services, Jim McVeigh has degrees in microbiology and mathematics and a post graduate qualification in education. He is a trained inspector of schools and has contributed to the successful inspection of over 100 schools in both the UK and the Caribbean. Jim is a very experienced science teacher and has successfully led and managed science departments in large comprehensive schools. He has also mentored trainee teachers and new faculty heads in the early stages of their roles. As part of a school’s senior management team, Jim has monitored and evaluated the performance of the entire school and has developed strategies to raise the performance of the school from good to excellent. He has produced training materials and run a variety of workshops for primary and secondary teachers, with the aim of raising the attainment of all students. Jim has also developed a training course for Cayman Islands teachers who aspire to become local occasional school inspectors. Recently, Jim has specialised in safeguarding audits for schools in the UK. In February 2008, He was also part of a two-person team that surveyed science education in Cayman Islands government primary schools. The report will be found on the website www.brighterfutures.gov.kyIn September 2008, Jim began several projects in Abu Dhabi, where he led a team of inspectors conducting health and safety inspections in small private schools; evaluated a student citizenship programme; and was part of a team monitoring the quality of public private partnerships in government schools.

Jim is currently leading a number of projects, including support for the Leigh Academy Trust. He leads inspections for Ofsted.
